Western Career College is the right place to start for a successful career in the areas of health care, graphic design, or criminal justice. Since 1967, Western Career College has provided specialized training in dynamic career fields, where demand for skilled and educated employees is great. Within these fields, we are a leading provider of career training, with a long-standing reputation for producing highly capable and motivated professionals. Today, our degrees and certificates are well respected and valued among a growing number of employers across Northern California.
With eight locations in Northern California, chances are there’s a Western Career College campus close to you. In addition, most programs begin every three to six weeks, so you can start right away. Many of our programs are offered with your choice of a morning, afternoon or evening schedule. For even more convenience, we also offer some programs with a mix of online courses and on-ground courses. This reduces the number of days that you need to come to campus and gives you the flexibility to take the remainder of your program online – 24/7. We understand that you have a busy life; we try to make it convenient for your busy lifestyle.
Hands-on education dominates our curriculum. We believe that one of the best ways to learn is through active student participation, practicing to learn the skills you will need on the job. In health care and criminal justice programs, students learn to master procedures through a combination of lecture, practice, and review. In graphic design programs, students build a portfolio of work accomplished during class that can be used in your career search.
Western takes special pride in its facilities. We want to foster an environment for quality education. When you visit the college, you will see the difference in the high quality, industry-standard equipment and tools our students use as part of the hands-on experience.
From day one, students, faculty and staff will focus on the ultimate goal—preparation for successful employment. Attendance, work ethic, and a job-like atmosphere all begin to prepare the student for work. As a student nears program completion, job-seeking and job-keeping skills are offered. Our Career Services Department also offers placement assistance to qualified graduates. Services include weekly job listings and recruitment workshops.
The college maintains constant communication with leaders in health care, graphic design, and criminal justice industries. Every program offered at Western Career College also maintains a program advisory board of industry professionals who work with the college. These advisors review our program content and the quality of our graduates to make sure our programs meet the needs of local employers. This relationship with industry professionals ensures that our curriculum and business practices are current, and our graduates receive the proper skills necessary to make them employable in their field.
Many programs offer a certificate of achievement, and all programs lead to an Associate in Science Degree. You can choose whether you want a quicker start to your career, or the more thorough preparation that you will receive in studying for your Associate’s degree.
Western Career College is regionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Secretary of Education. WCC students are eligible to participate in the federal student financial aid programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, and as administered by the U. S. Department of Education.
When available, WCC seeks state and national programmatic licensure and accreditation, providing an additional level of oversight and approval to ensure the quality of our programs. Many WCC programs have received program specific accreditation, approval, and/or recognition; you can review these additional external statuses at the College.
