Careers in the pharmacy
industry are fast-paced, demanding and very rewarding, both personally
and professionally. Pharmacies are a critical component in the
overall delivery of health care in the U.S., and Pharmacy Technicians
play an important role in the operation of pharmacies. Among
other responsibilities, pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists
provide medication and other health care products to patients.
Technicians usually perform tasks to help prepare prescribed
medication for patients, such as counting tablets and labeling
bottles. Technicians may establish and maintain patient profiles,
prepare insurance claim forms, and stock and take inventory of
prescription and over-the-counter medications. The demand for
qualified pharmacy technicians is expected to grow considerably
through the year 2012. As a result, salary, benefits and career
advancement will be excellent.
